The Road to Red Restaurant List

A drama that depicts the small-but-significant adventures of a middle-aged businessman who travels around Japan sleeping in his car, in search of “zetsumeshi,” the exquisite menus of actual restaurants that may go extinct.

Takayuki Hamatsu, the lead actor in the hit Japanese film One Cut of the Dead (Don’t Stop the Camera!), plays an ordinary salaryman. A “zetsumeshi” (an exquisite dish that must be preserved) is researched for each episode, and the original stories are based on actual interviews with restaurant owners.
